Can social media make the world a more tolerant place?
Can social media make the world a more tolerant place? was posted by Holly Pavlika on the BigFuel blog as well as her Have Mom~Entum blog. Since both blogs draw different readers, visiting both as great places to weigh in your comments and reply to other commenters. Interestingly, I invited Holly as my guest to the CNN Unwelcome screening breakfast because
(1) she lives and works in NYC,
(2) she works in social media, and
(3) we tweeted that we must meet the next time I was in NYC.
Little did either of us, put the dots together that viewing this documentary would have her recall that she had 2 Muslim nannies, that she actually was a bit anxious about hitting publish to my guest post “Top Ten Reasons Brands Should Target Muslim Social Media Moms”, and that we actually personally connected on levels unknown to both of us, had we not embarked this breakfast together.

I’m curious about your experience in which social media has affected your perspective on life, of others, opened your doors to new possibilities.

I do believe social media can make this world a more tolerant place–it’s the most cost-effective, timely, interactive, educational tool of the present. And, I believe Muslims and our faith–Islam, is only receiving wonderful coverage because of social media and those who partake in this medium. Thanks again Holly for your thoughtful piece.
