Review: Lift Me Up iPhone App
Alhamdulillah, I am delighted to be American Muslim Mom’s newest iPhone app reviewer. My first assignment was to review an iPhone app called Lift Me Up.
The app (check it out here: http://www.theliftmeupproject.com) is designed to “soothe your hearts, soothe your eyes.” We all have those moments in which we feel drained–perhaps our ibadah isn’t as sweet, maybe our focus is misdirected, or our patience is being tested with a difficulty. Lift Me Up strives to–well–lift you up!
When you tap on the application, it provides you with three categories:
- Allah is with you
- Have faith!
- Patience is a virtue
When you tap on a category, a bunch of colorful and beautifully drawn pictures come up, and it reminded me a lot of Pinterest. Then you can tap on any of the pictures, and scroll from one to the next by sliding your finger on the screen.
I tapped on the first category, “Allah is with you,” and then, the first picture. I was able to see the picture in full screen, and on it was a quote in the English translation from the Qur’an. As I scrolled through the pictures, I read an inspiring message from the Qur’an or the Hadith about how Allah subhanahu wa Ta’ala is with us.
You can also view all the pictures, regardless of the category at one time, and you have the option to favorite whichever ones you like most.
I had just finished reading my Maghrib salaah when I decided to explore this app. I was reading the quotes to my parents out loud, and when I got to the following, I had to take some breaths and hold back tears:
Upon reading this Hadith, I had the urge to share it, so I tweeted it and emailed it to my friend straight from the app. Just minutes later, I got a text message saying I had made my friend cry with the picture I sent her.
SubhanAllah.
This Lift Me Up app is so well-named, Masha’Allah. It definitely soothed my heart and my eyes, Alhamdulillah. May Allah subhanahu wa Ta’ala bless the people responsible for its production, for all those who they inspire to get on their deen on these most blessed last days of Sha’ban leading up to Ramadan, Insha’Allah.

Masha’Allah they really are. I was looking at the doodles again last night–what a wonderful way to use an iPhone for some minutes in Ramadan.
JazakAllahu khayr for your kind words. Ramadan Mubarak to you as well! May Allah subhanahu wa Ta’ala accept our fasts, prayers, du’as, and good efforts. Ameen.
