Review & Giveaway: Silver Envelope

| July 26, 2012 | Comments (29)

My household was never one to decorate for Ramadan, Eid, or any other special occasion really. So, when I had the opportunity to review Silver Envelope’s Ultimate Flying High Bundle, I was really excited to experiment.

This package really is the ultimate bundle–it includes (list taken from Silver Envelope’s website):

Ramadan:

  • 1 pack Ramadan Banner (1 banner)
  • 1 pack Ramadan Balloons (12 balloons)
  • 1 pack Ramadan Pencils (12 pencils)
  • 1 pack Ramadan Color-in card (10 cards)

Eid:

  • 1 pack Eid Banner (2 banners)
  • 1 pack Eid Balloons (12 balloons)
  • 1 pack Eid Buttons (5 buttons)
  • 1 pack Eid Curling Ribbon
  • 2 packs Eid Stickers (1 red and 1 green)
  • 1 pack Eid Cards (10 cards)

Plus:

  • 2 packs Cello Bags (8 count each)
  • 1 pack Cupcake wraps (10 wraps)
  • 1 pack Craft Squares (15 squares, various sizes)
  • 1 pack Ramadan Word Craft Squares (5 squares)
  • 1 pack Eid Word Craft Squares (5 squares)
  • 1 pack Party Invitations (10 invites)
  • 1 pack Giftwrap (4 sheets)
  • 2 packs Bookmarks (5 bookmarks/pack)

Last week before Ramadan began, my mom, sister-in-law, and I played around with the Ramadan decorations and craft squares. Using a hole-punch and thread, we hung  the craft squares and Ramadan words from an opening in between our family room and kitchen. The squares are all double-sided, so you can see the beautiful and colorful design from both sides.

I blew up balloons, and we hung two on each side of the opening. We taped the banner that read “Ramadan Kareem!” on the wall.

My household enjoyed the decorations, but began to really miss my sisters’ children who live states away. The decorations brightened up my home, and I feel kids will definitely love helping their parents bring color and Ramadan cheer to any room.

As for the Eid decor, I’m planning to take it with me to my sister’s home and decorate there. Her kids are 5, 3, and 1, and I expect them to want to get their hands on the decorations to celebrate Eid.

The goody bags are great too. Inside, I placed the pencils, bookmarks, balloons and buttons. Once we buy some candy to throw in the bags, we’ll be sealing them up with the “Happy Eid” stickers.

My favorite part of the bundle has got to be the gift wrap. The quality is great, and I wrongly assumed if there was any con with this bundle, it had to be the gift wrap. You see, traditionally, we buy gift wrap from the dollar store in rolls–you just cut however big a piece you need. Silver Envelope sent four folded sheets of wrapping paper, so I was unsure if it would wrap the box I had ready for my nephew.

Gift Wrap

When I opened it up, I realized two of those boxes could easily fit, and there was some left over! Alhamdulillah. I used the “Happy Eid/Eid Mubarak” curling ribbon to finish it off. Be careful when opening the ribbon though; when I pulled off the tape, some of the text came off with it. Nevertheless, I loved the way it turned out and can’t wait to wrap the rest of our Eid gifts.

I suggest browsing Silver Envelope’s website–there are some great ideas on there as to what to do with all the decorations.

As salam alaikum! Your review really encourages me to buy more decorations for Ramadan and Eid! I have 3 kids who are ages 6 and younger and they would LOVE to have this to brighten up our home. Last year we made home made decorations but these would certainly look a lot better! Now that they are at the age to really enjoy these things, this is definitely something that I am hoping to win to decorate our home with iA!

I have been married 3 years this Ramadan, and along with being blessed with a great hubby, I was blessed with four step-children, in addition to my own two children and now a seventh baby to add to the bunch! One of my main concerns with our new blended family has been building a sense of love and cohesiveness, especially during Islamic Holidays. Unfortunately, most of the children’s relatives are non-Muslim and we are constantly battling with them to respect our traditions and not to celebrate non-Islamic holidays with our kids. Despite this, they’ve continually celebrated Bdays, Fourth of July, Xmas and many other holidays behind our backs when our children visited with them.

It’s been hard explaining to the kids the importance of not celebrating these holidays and instilling in them a sense of value and excitement for Ramadan and Eid, but I have worked INCREDIBLY hard over the last couple of years and masha’Allah, the kids are super-excited about these holidays now, and I always try to go above and beyond for them and make our holidays extra special so that they dont feel discouraged when the countless non-Islamic holidays roll around.

This year, with a family of nine, we cant afford to do it big like I’d wanted to. We want to put up lights and buy more arts and crafts supplies for decor, but whatever we buy it will take away from what we can afford for Eid… it’s a hard choice to make.

If we won this gift set it would help tremendously, insha’Allah! We could use the decor to decorate as a family and continue to build those bonds and memories that are so important as you grow up together… creating a blended family is so hard, and its these simple activities that build the bonds of love and friendship between one another.

We could use the cards, actually, to create cards for the kids’ NON-Muslim relatives to alert them that Eid is approaching and THIS is the appropriate time to send gifts, etc… rather than Xmas, Birthdays, etc. I think that would help us maintain ties with them and give dawah at the same time.

I dont think the giftwrap would be enough for everyone if we are able to buy gifts this year, so instead, Id like to use it to create maps and clues for the kids to do a present hunt. This will make the gift giving more exciting, even if theyre only able to get one gift each this year, and the pretty paper will make it feel more special/authentic.

The Eid party supplies would be AWESOME for a party just for the kids. We had to take all of our kids out the the private Islamic school they went to last year because we couldnt afford it. This would give a great opportunity for them to reunite with their old friends once more, as theyll be in a new school this year and wont have opportunity to see most of them again.

I guess I could go on and on, but what I see here in this set for our family is a huge opportunity to make this Ramadan/Eid especially wonderful for the kids and a way for use to create beautiful memories as our new little family grows together and gets to know, love and appreciate one another, insha’Allah.

Ive always seen Silver Envelope’s products and ADORED them, but have never been able to afford them. This is a truly amazing opportunity for us. Thank you so much. JZK!

I am a mommy to a one year old baby girl. She was born the last Ramadan. All my childhood, Eid was the day when we celebrated and had a lot of fun with all my relatives and cousins. Today as I am away from my extended family, I do not get to celebrate Eid in the way I used to. But now that I am a mommy, I now want to inshallah celebrate Eid in the best possible way that even I did not get to enjoy it so that my baby girl will get to see it since her early years and inshallah she will continue to do it the same way in her life as well inshallah. These beautiful decorations will definitely make Eid much more wonderful!

Salam Alaikum! Very excited to enter the give away! The past few years I have kept saying that I want to decorate for Ramadan and the Eid but circumstances, and a lack of planning, limited me. Now that my son is four I really wanted to make decorations with him and get him excited for Ramadan and Eid since he is starting to grasp what’s going on. We hung lights, made little lanterns, a calendar, and plan to make Sadaqa jars this week. For Eid we are having a big cookout with family and friends. We are trying to go all out with awesome food and INShaAllah a bouncy house. I am already planning on making goodie bags, but how awesome would it be if they were made with Silver Envelope decorations? Imagine the look of wonder on all the little faces when they see Ramadan balloons and get gifts wrapped in beautiful Eid wrapping paper! How exciting. Even if I don’t win I am so very pleased to see someone manufacturing Ramadan and Eid decorations that are fresh and cute! Jazzakum Allahu Khiran!

Our house also was never one to decorate for Ramadan and Eid. However, after having kids, I really want to instill in them the love of Eid and want them to realize that it is a our special holiday. Last christmas, I purchased some colorful streamers and generic decorations to jazz things up a little around eid. However, decorations that are eid specific will definitely be the best option!

    Salam SIS!

i am a Muslim teenage girl with younger sibilings who loves to decorate and design things. I have always wanted to decorate our house for eid, but unfortunately, due to a tight budget, we could not afford such frivolous things. When I saw this post, my heart soared and just filled with excitement and joy. This year, I wanted to give my siblings eid gifts but I don’t have enough money. If I win this giveaway, I could make this eid one of the bests for them! I would decorate the house the night before when they are sleeping so they wake up to the beautiful and colorful decorations. I can already imagine their cute little faces, with shining eyes full of excitement. They love goody bags and my littlest sister just loves balloons. I will also make DIY gifts and wrap them with this amazing gift paper! They will be so excited! I want them to be happy and not have to ask my parents for money when we are having a hard time. This bundle would make this Eid one we will forever remember! Jazakallah Sister for doing this. May Allah accept our fasts and duas in this blessed month and grant us Jannah! Ameen!

Oh,, the Joys of Eid! But first, Ramadan! After having fasted the whole month insha’allah (which masha’allah they have been doing since they were seven)and being dedicated to acquiring knowledge and increasing in worship during this blessed month they happily look forward to Eid. All five of my children ranging from age 9 to 14 enjoy making the home have a festive air without going overboard, and these lovely decorations will add just the right touch of beauty.

    Salaams!

I just received my 1st order from Silver Envelope & am very happy with the quality & uniqueness of the products.

We Alhumdollilah have 2 kids ( mA 9 & 6 years of age)and every year we try our utmost to do something novel & exciting during Ramadan & Eid. For example, our family tradition for the past 7 years is to to put up ‘Eid Lights’ which I purchase during the Christmas season. In fact, I still remember when my son was 4, I took him to ‘Target’ to purchase lights and in order to get him excited I told him we were going to purchase our Eid lights; he was soooo excited at the time, until 2 years later when he realized we were purchasing Christmas lights for Eid, in advance :) .
Another year, I involved the kids in making goody bags for their cousins & buddies & last year, I made ‘Eid Pops’ with the kids. They loved handing them out!
This year, I thought to give ‘Silver Envelope’ a try! I was instantly attracted to the Eid balloons since I knew the kids would be pleasantly suprised to see them decorated alongside our Eid lights this year. I also purchased the little boxes & my plan is to make chocolate covered dates dipped in coconuts for our friends & family….kids are excited to get dipping for this years Eid activity & I’m mentally prepared for the mess & clean-up :D .

Living in the West, we really have to make a concerted effort with our kids from a young age to have an acceptance & understanding of Islam, our values & our heritage. This has to be done from the point of view of a child; making goody bags, decorating the house etc. They are now at an age where we can talk to them about why we fast & pray and I can see that it is being absorbed by them since they are intrigued & have questions for us regarding different aspects of Islam.

Thank you ‘Silver Envelope’ for aiding in our Eid family fun, for this year & Insh’Allah in years to come!
