LINCOLN Feature Film by Steven Spielberg Opening November 9, 2012. A Homeschool Project Turned into a Book!
SubhanAllah, the very moment we received this email announcement, we were at a Los Angeles public library for the first time researching Abe Lincoln and became very familiar with this signature portraits.
We’re very interested in this feature film because my 11-year-old daughter is finishing up her manuscript “25 Fun Facts of Abe Lincoln. Making History Fun.” We didn’t know it’s a DreamWorks, Twentieth Century Fox, Participant Media productio.n We though IMDB was just going to release via PBS or something small, not the big screen; even though, of course, Speilberg is the director of this $50 million budget movie and has Sally Field as Martha Todd.
We’ve been working feverishly since we finalized my daughters’ book contracts with our publisher. We only have 30 days to submit our final manuscripts. We’ve been so busy we haven’t been able to share the news. But, the cool news is that the girls’ book series is based on a homeschool project. How we’re “Making History Fun” for my girls–and we’re going to be able to share the Fun with all of you soon.
Also, since my humble homeshcool project to improve all their (what I believed) poor writing skills, they started a blog in 2009. I truly believe they wouldn’t have gotten book contracts had it not been for their blog!
Now, is that a reason to get your kids blogging today?
Pictured above is the first look at Daniel Day Lewis in the title role of LINCOLN directed by Steven Spielberg.
LINCOLN focuses on the last four months of the president’s life and the political strategizing he undertook at the close of the Civil War to ensure that slavery would be forever outlawed. “Our movie is really about a working leader who must make tough decisions and get things done in the face of overwhelming opposition,” Spielberg says.
LINCOLN is opening in limited release November 9, expanding November 16, 2012.
