I’d love to give these pearls as a gift to my grand-daughter. Pearls are considered June’s birthstone (her birthday is in June) and are thought to signify Wisdom–my wish for her. I don’t think I usually put much real belief in birthstones and such, but this would be a lovely gift and a beautiful thought.

Pearls make me think of how they described us as Muslim women; covered pearls. I’d like to give this to my mother because Paradise lies at the feet of our mothers.

Yes, I always tell the girls we’re like Pearls in an oyster and Diamonds in a mine. Subhan Allah.

Aww…a gift for mama, how thoughtful, subhan Allah.

Jewelry is definitely not a necessity in life at all; so adding bits and pieces to it is just an extra perk. Insha Allah.

Mashaallah it’s very unique and a beautiful design. I like wearing jewels which is not too fancy and has this and that blings on it. For me it’s important it has a simple and yet a good quality on it, I think this Pearl purehearts bracelet has it all what I wish for <3<3

    Have liked on facebook

    Wa-alaykum asalam.

Subhan Allah, they definitely have high-quality pearls.

I totally agree; one the biggest things hubby, my girls and I really do not like is overseas gaudy, tacky, bling-bling flashy jewelry. Everything in our home is all simple and elegant.

    [Reply]

  13. Asalaam ‘Alaikum,

I don’t wear jewlery often – not because I don’t like jewlery – but because I don’t own any. I’ve always hoped that someone near ** is anyone listening?!? ** would buy me something – anything – but the gifts I usually receive are things like “hey honey, I got you a blender as a gift” or “I thought of you and bought you a new set of cooking skillets.”

While I need things like that – and am not too disappointed – I do still appreciate the beauty of nice jewlery – but so far, from afar.

This would be a great gift – I must say (hoping not to sound too greedy because I wouldn’t be giving it to anyone else) and it would be something I would thoroughly cherish and enjoy, insha’Allah.

    Ponn Sabra Reply:

    Wa-alaykum asalam dear sister Sumayyah,

Smiled and laughed hard because I share everything you commented!

And, since I didn’t have pearls myself, when my first pair came, I asked how do I split 1 pair of earrings with 3 girls? They ALL yelled at me: “This is Yours Mama! You deserve it!”

So, with the generous offer for the bracelet to review, they felt so happy that I’d have a “set”; while reminding me that they each got their 1 pearl-piece from my late mommy (their gramma) and I didn’t have my own–until now.

Charity first starts at home. A bit of luxury/gifts should go to mommy too–once in a blue moon, right?

BTW, did you know that “Once in a Blue Moon” is this month, insha Allah? August 1st (past) and insha Allah Aug. 30th. 2 full moons in one calendar month = Blue Moon.

Who knows, insha Allah, this is YOUR Blue Moon!?

BTW, has hubby ever said to buy yourself jewelry and say it’s a “gift from him”? Mine ALWAYS does…I never have yet, because it doesn’t seem like a “gift”, and I just cannot go out and “buy” myself some “luxurious item”.

    Just curious…

    [Reply]

    Sumayyah Umm SAAK Reply:

    Asalaam ‘Alaikum:

My hubby is very analytical – a math and science kind of guy – he doesn’t think that way. It’s funny. Once when we were first married, I asked him why he never bought me flowers – he said “because they die soon after, what’s the point.” He actually is extremely thoughtful and caring – he just thinks in terms of “what does she really NEED to make her life easier” not always “what does she not really need – but would like.” Alhumdulilah.

As for the blue moon – I knew it was a real thing – but did not realize that we were having one lately. I’m going to have to teach the kids about that one – thanks so much!

    Ponn Sabra Reply:

SO funny, mashaAllah. Same thing as hubby, my girls always remind me “Awww…how romantic” as he gets me everything I need and want for the kitchen–that’s my playground. “See, Mama, he’s thinking of you!” Also, we always chuckle because any new kitchen gadget he “gets me”, I cannot use it until HE uses WITH me first. LOL.

We are ever so fortunate, hubby’s jokes, sarcasm and black-and-white speech is what makes him him, mashaAllah. Through Allah’s blessing, there is nothing he hasn’t provided or offers me. He did something incredibly special with our engagement dowry that I will forever know how much I know I mean to him. It’s never the money or jewels, it’s always the sentiment.

    But, on that note:

As for flowers, I always got a single rose for every new home we had and we’ve had dozenS in our years. Then, it stopped after he went to Hajj: commercialization, consumerism, and how “giving flowers is one of the signs of a cheating husband” (kuffar) articles spreading the Internet (and him reminding me of “it’s always in the movies”…) So, my husband vowed NEVER to buy we a single flower again. He didn’t do it angrily, it was shared matter-of-factly. I was like, ‘okay’ and totally agreed with him that flowers are REALLY not a priority or desire of mine.

Then, that Spring, in our then new house; He discovered we had 3 different rose bushes. He found the first bloom, gave it to one of my girls and said “give this to mama”. They’d assure me it wasn’t from them. Surprised and touched, now on a very often basis he’d come in the home with fresh roses.

Since then, the past 3 homes we’ve always been blessed with gorgeous flowers and roses in our yards and home, alhumdulilah. AND, I don’t do any of the gardening!

Subhan Allah, I should make this story in a nice post; insha Allah.

BTW, you know, since you follow our homeschooling journey, that all 5 of us are HUGE into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), right? So, practicality is more our cup of tea anyways.

  14. Judy Nelson Eldawy says:

I would like to win this pearl bracelet for my daughter. She does wear hijab but it is hard for her, seeing school friends wearing all the “cool clothes”. I would give the bracelet to her and tell her to wear it as a reminder that, like the oyster, our outside coverings are meant to protect us from random dangers and that the most beautiful parts of us are always on the inside. I would tell her to be like the oyster, taking the irritants of life and secrete a coating of patience and prayer over them, which will ultimately transform her heart into the most beautiful of jewels, just like a pearl,InshaAllah.

I’m entering this because my Daughter’s B-day is coming up & I would like to give her something nice. She is a very giving, open person & goes out of her way to make others lives better. Unfortunately, I have been out of a job for several months & We don’t have the money to do something nice for her. She’s already said to me “Now Mama, I know you & Daddy are short on funds right now, so please don’t worry about getting me anything for my B-day – it’s enough to know that you love & support me in everything I try to do!” I have enjoyed yr blog-even tho I’m not a Muslim. I think that the more we learn about each other the more we can find our similarities rather than focusing on our differences! (Such as a Mother’s love for her children crosses all lines, don’t you think?) Thank-you for the chance!!!((1955nursehjc4me(at)myway(dot)com))
