Daily Du’a for the Busy Muslim Mom #7: Dealing with Failure
No one likes failure, especially if we put all our heart, mind, body, time, effort, and even money into our projects. As moms, we often do fun things like make a pretty presentation of a boring dinner, try a new hairstyle, put on makeup for hubby, spot-clean the living room with a new fragrance, get a tiny but meaningful (to us) award at work or school; yet, no one notices.
Or, you make a really cool, economical, practical, highly-functional, and decorative home organizer for the whole family to use and enjoy…yet, no remarks are made. Of course it hurts.
Or worse, the only comment you get is one of ridicule, jokes, or the occasional, “What a waste of time that was.” Unappreciated yet again. You start to think, “Why do I even do these things?” and ponder everyone’s lack of appreciation.
No! Stop! Yell back, “Shoo Shaytan!” [Like shooing a fly when you say “Shoo Fly!”]
You did this for the sake of Allah, subhanahu wa Ta’ala!
What if you finally worked hard, budgeted your time and schedule so you can read Qur’an? In reciting, giggles occur because you’re making mistakes. But they’re too busy to help you?
Would you stop reciting Qur’an because a person passed judgement on your ibadah, acts of worship!? Of course not…because you KNOW you’re doing that for the sake of Allah and Him Alone.
Well, that holds true for all your homemaking duties. All your daily duties are ibadah, if you set your intentions right. So, do NOT stop making great crafts, hosting family activities, or making positive lifestyle changes for you and your family; because these actions are building blocks in your relationship with Allah, subhanahu wa Ta’ala. Remember that Only Allah, subhanahu wa Ta’ala is a Just, True Judge who’s willing to be quick in His decisions to reward His truest believers.
Then they are returned to Allah, their True Maula [True Master (God), the just Lord (to reward them)]. Surely, for Him is the judgment and He is the Swiftest in taking account. [Qur’an, 6:62]
Do not give into people or Shaytan’s whispers–or their silence!
Stay confident and ask Allah’s assistance; He will always assist you in your efforts to please Him. We cannot let Him down if we keep Him in mind in all that we do.
