In a recent survey, men’s dream vacation overwhelmingly involves golf. Whereas for women, they dream of something romantic. Ask my girls and I, and our dream vacation continues to be Mecca and Medina, inshaAllah, God willing. We don’t expect or even want this trip to involve golf, nor anything romantic.

Anyways to the majority of golfers out there, men or women; here’s a few thoughts to share:

Of all my extended family and friends who are golfers, everyone we know purchases discount golf equipment. At least is CT, it’s not very hard to find golf discount warehouses. Now, with the Internet, it’s not hard to find Callaway golf equipment online at such places like TheWorldOfGolf.com.

Now, we’re not golfers but one of our fun winter (or summer) past-times is making a mall visit in which the girls actually test out the latest kids’ putters at one of the famous big-chain sporting goods stores. It’s a little trick we learned by accident with Daddy/Papa. Now, it’s a necessary part of their mall-trips with him. However, the girls just reminded me that during the winter, they actually Want to go to the mall just to golf with Papa–even though he’s not a golfer himself.

It’s little discoveries like this, that surprisingly turns into a treasured family past-time that they always look forward to sharing with one of their most favorite people in the whole world–Papa. It’s free and its fun.

My siblings are frugal golfers and find this past-time quite cute; so there’s no doubt they will be following in our footsteps in making this a past-time with their kids and Papa as well.

As you know, we’re don’t really watch TV, and we’re definitely NOT Reality-Show fans. We’re the record-TV-shows we want to watch, when we want to watch, documentary, specialty channel kind of family. As for Reality Shows, they don’t even cross our minds, let alone become fans to one.

However, once when hubby was flipping the remote, as he enjoys the tube every once in awhile, without us (the girls and I). The scene and sounds of flames of fire and chefs cooking flashed by like a flick of the eye. Our middle daughter, the true “foodie” in our family, jumped up and yelled “stop”. Mesmerized by the drama, she insisted that all she wanted to see was what they were all cooking. We didn’t watch the whole show, but hubby allowed himself to flip back during this commercials to give her a heads-up as to the cooking progress. As odd as possible, subhanallah, Glory be to God, the next day I received an email requesting a review copy of Masterchef’s new bookazine as well as interview opportunities with the judges and even contestants.

To peak my daughter’s interest, we agreed to review the bookazine as I have much respect for Taste of Home; and we were all really intrigued by the title of “bookazine”. Basically I’m told it has elements of both a book and a magazine. Interestingly, it is like a magazine, but because of the depth of content, 60+ exclusive recipes from the show, it’s definitely a “book” that I securely placed in my cookbook cabinets.

While we’re discussing Food & Recipes still for our Ramadan blog series, I find it also fitting to share with you this interesting review.

First, I always explain to my girls that “Mama never tries new recipes during Ramadan…we’re fasting all day, the last thing I want is to break our fast with a meal we don’t like.” However, I was determined to find something that would be timely with this bookazine.

Here’s the challenge though: Basically, there’s only a handful of chicken recipes that I can bring to our kitchen. We don’t even eat chicken weekly. Since we’re obviously a dark meat family, we  only eat drumsticks and thighs. Even fried cutlets must be skinless thighs. Our biggest concerns is keeping a chicken moist, juicy, doesn’t smell like chicken, and tasty! I can’t tell you how many family and friends have tried to have us enjoy their “infamous” chicken recipes, only to find that my entire family typically eats as politely as possible, because we have yet to find someone who can win us all (collectively) over. As big skeptics, we never order chicken when we’re out to eat.

I was so happy to share with MasterChef/Taste of Home rep that

I just combined 2 chicken recipes 2 nights ago from the bookazine and it was a hit! We never eat chicken b/c we’re SO picky with juicy red meat and my dish was juicy & tasty.

• I combied the pan-roasted mustard chicken with browned butter bread crumbs (p.114 from Ester Kang, Masterchef Season 2) [I substituted mustard seed with juicy, mustard itself] and the Couscous from the Pollo con Frutas recipe (p.116 from Jennifer Behm, Masterchef Season 2).

• Post/Guest Post - This is great for assigning days for different bloggers (especially my daughters) and guests.
• Emails/List – I assume this is for marketing tracking purposes, which I have to do a better job as my gmail box practically maxed out the number of Labels I can have. But, I need to maximize my email lists, this space will remind me when/if I emailed them or not.
• Promos/Comments – I just started a spreadsheet for this last night, because I’m trying to track stats, comments, and watch what my audience prefers to read here.
• Ideas - Keep for brainstorming and reviewing successful blog posts, series, products reviewed, etc.

I, like Angela, am a visual person. So, the layout and format for this plugin is great.

My personal favorite this week because my awful back and neck problems. InshaAllah (God willing) these remedies work well with my present physical therapy exercises. Alhumdulilah (Praise be to Allah), the exercises I’m doing right now, are the best ever since I started physical therapy 5 years ago.
