Islam Q&A
A number of my reverted Muslim and Muslim-born friends and I highly recommend this website to post questions and receive fatwas:
Islam Question & Answer! This site aims to provide intelligent, authoritative responses to anyones question about Islam, whether it be from a Muslim or a non-Muslim, and to help solve general and personal social problems. Responses are composed by Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid, a known Islamic lecturer and author. Questions about any topic are welcome, such as theology, worship, human and business relations, or social and personal issues.
All questions and answers on this site have been prepared, approved, revised, edited, amended or annotated by Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-Munajjid, the supervisor of this site.
I get the email updated fatwas delivered, but can’t find the subscription box, as I signed up a couple of years back. But, I did notice you can get the RSS feed.
While I don’t get to read all the updates, I do search the archives whenever I need to find an issue, and I’ve always found the topic already discussed in great detail which I appreciate greatly.

Learning Qur’an – Arabic as a second language
Learning Qur’an through transliteration and more!
Arabic is our second language, but I know a sister learning Arabic as her third language strictly from this website–and she’s doing great!
I have at least 100 websites I look forward in sharing here at this blog. So, I decided to share the resources as they come up in my daily use.
For example, a sister emailed me her discovery of Transliteration.org. Since her Qur’an recitation is fabulous (20+ years of being a Muslim, Alhumdulilah/Praise be to God), I didn’t think she’d need a site like this. But, that’s just it–one can learn Arabic as a second language, beyond Qur’an recitation via this website. And, every single Muslim even if Arabic is your first language should be working on their Arabic–period.
My girls and I love this site–primarily the Learning Pronunciation via illustrations. I will never forget our first time at this site–we spelt out all our names, played with our unused vocal chords, and had a grand time. It has been a while, so we gotta hop on right now.
Please share your experiences and thoughts of this site below. Or offer a recommendation if you have another one.
Old Navy for Girls and Baby Girls
We just love Old Navy for Girls size 4 – 16 and Baby Girls upto size 5T.
So here’s the rating : Four Stars
All us girls points for value, price & fun. We can’t give points for originality–which is NOT a bad thing because they have classic clothes, classic fits and classic cotton and materials!
We will give them the full-point for customer service, ease of shopping experience, atmosphere–always clean with fun music.
We’ve been to half-dozen Old Navy stores throughout the country and our experience is always the same–fun and we always find what we’re looking for–great deals!
It doesn’t matter what day you go, becuase there are always sales.
So, here’s Mama’s truthful remarks:
My sister always bought Old Navy when our eldest daughter was just born. She always said “I got it on sale”. I convinced her NOT to spend money unnecessarily. Then…bam! 3 daughters later; just about every single thing got handed-down…the colors and shapes, rims and edges, all remained!
The cotton never got overused, the colors stayed vibrant, the styles stuck. Even for the 2nd or 3rd girl, you couldn’t tell it was a hand-me-down either.
And, anyone that knows my girls–they love to play and play hard. They’ve held their own next to any of their boy friends in terms of getting dirty. So, even after I scrubbed with stain remover, the color remained fluid throughout.
Time is money–and I can’t waste either. So, I gave up buying cheapy stuff that gets only 1-2 good uses because stains don’t come out, and/or the washed-away original color makes it look cheap–showing its true color afterall. Oh, and the girls and I hate fads…they fade in and out…we’ll stick with the straight, nice cuts and lines of Old Navy any day!
So, name brands are worth our time, money, effort and value. I’m not the kind of mom, that says ‘wear, throw away and shop again’. I don’t like shopping that much. I really don’t like driving. And, I hate waiting lines…which at Old Navy I’ve never waited more than 1 person.

SearchTruth.com had an overhaul
Subhanallah – God is Perfect!
What an overhaul SearchTruth.com made–it is fantastic!
No doubt, it has been awhile since I last logged on the site…so, while my news is probably not new; if you’ve never been there: I did my job! Insha’allah, you’ll get hooked like me!
I loved this site before simply when they only had Qur’an & hadith searches, recitations & translations.
I used the transliterations along with the arabic writings to learn the Qur’an, but I didn’t care of any of their recitors. So it was a welcomed surprise to see noticed they added a few more scholars. I’m listening right now.
I learn all the new surahs along with my girls with the teacher and pauese–full Qur’an is here.
Now, they have dozens of new additions, such as:
- Nasheed samples.
- 99 Names of Allah. The song I used to memorize the names years ago when I first learned them. Unfortunately, I forgot them (lack of practice). I attempted to find this song’s version to teach my girls as I relearn them…and viola here it is! (In a beautiful visual presentation too).
- The whole “More stuff” section is filled of listening & reading pleasure!
- I got the handy-dandy Hijri calendar on the sidebar from there. Now, go grab yours.

The American Muslim Mom Blog
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu.
Many peace, blessings and good tidings be upon you.
Khir, insha’allah.
Only good fortune be will with, God willing.
The short story is: I will share our long story here on this blog.
We’ll chronicle our journey to create an ummah (community) of Muslim children in which our Creator, Allah SWT (subhana watallah, May He be Glorified) will be pleased with as they are our entrance into jennah (heaven), insha’allah.
Raising children is our top priority as parents and more so for us mommies.
If we do it only for the sake of Allah (SWT) and in accordance with the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) our rewards will be great!
I have three daughters, and welcome the challenges of raising them.
My husband and I homeschool them. We’re creating a bunch of computer-loving, techno-junkies who expect to have fun as we learn together, and strive to seek Allah’s (SWT) approval in all that we do.
Seeking knowledge is critical to being a Muslim, and we instilled this love to learn since the day they each were born.
As a best-selling author and lover of the written word, I, too am a researcher at heart (blame it on my biology-days). With an trained-engineer as a hubby, this blog is a long awaited online journal of tips, tools & resources for those who know us–and now, I’m widening our circle of brothers and sisters to the online world.
Insha’allah/God willing, you will come share any and all your feedback and comments. Most of all, I’m seeking your active involvement by sharing your helpful resources in Islam and raising our ummah together–one child at a time.

Dress like a Princess from head to toe and inside-out
During the holidays, we always dress-up like princesses…we treat ourselves to a bi-annual wedding party attire. [It's obviously winter-princess-time too].
Here’s our run-down:
David’s Bridal flower girl dresses, and Dillard’s Cinderella collection. Not to be too catty (well…), but our gown as much more gorgeous than any of the ones listed here. Ours had two tiers, ivory and white, mutliple pearls, then a big bow in the back with a minor train (very tasteful in length).
Shoes
Shoe Carnival’s white bow tie slipper shoes. [They have the best sales...we'll have to save a whole post just on "how to buy at Shoe Carnival" for late].
Hair accessories
Ringstone tiaras, hair combs with pearls and twirly ringstone hair ties from Claires.
Outerware – We love it! {In Weasey’s squeally voice from DragonTales}
Make-up
Lancome Starlette Illuminating Loose Powder Intense Sparkle: Light. [Body Powder glitter]
Victoria’s Secret – Beauty Rush Lip Gloss- clear, vanilla flavor.
Undergarments
We always get Hanes. Believe me we’ve tried all the brands, and Hanes has the best selection on characters, wonderful cotton–stains always come out, and it’s thick enough so the undershirts keep their shape. Most brands, as Hanes, are all tagless these days…but, with 3 girls, some undershirts have survived more than one chick. So, wearability is great!
Mama & all 3 chicks give: 3/4 stars because our outfits are not cheap! But, we give a full 5th star becuase we get originality, style, grace, and much more as we enter everywhere we go for the holidays.
So, “Dress like a Princess” gets a grand total of 4 stars!

Toledo Free Press – Puzzle Page
Last night, Zi and I got stuck for hours trying out new games we never played before in the Toledo Free Press – Puzzle Page:
Buzzword & Sudoku.
We see Sudoku books everywhere. So we gave it a try, and it was tons of fun!
Buzzword was really cool too!
Buzzword reminded me about Boggle, so we starting challenging each other with random 16-letter blocks to make up words…our homemade Boggle game. [A friend recommended Jr. Boggle for my girls...at Zi's rate, she's definitely ready for regular Boggle!]
Zi is 6.5 years old, and every game held her attention so much, her excitement was contagious and kept me going. I tried Sudoku earlier that day by myself and it was mind-blowing…then, together (which was her idea) we finished and had so much fun!
What are your thoughts of Sudoku, Buzzword or Boggle? Post below!
Thanks TFP for introducing great educational, family fun at our house!
Girly Girls Rock! Defined
Okay. For the third and hopefully final time, we are revamping this blog.
But, this should not fail, because the girls are running the show…a homeschool project that they have lists and lists of things ready to share with you. They are early readers and writers who are learning how to type. Unfortunately, I can not type as fast as they’d like to review so please be patient with us!
Feel free to comment, suggest or recommend products or services for us to review. We want this to be a fun, educational and exciting place to hang out!
Here’s how it work:
There are 4 girls in our house, me & my 3 girlz.
Each of us are responsible for 1 point.
We will break down each point into quarters:
- educational value
- price
- fun
- originality
The last and final point we must all agree on its value.
Here’s to being a girly girl!
~ Mama
P.S. We may not rate every single post, especially if we want you to check out something cool in a rush.
